When work feels like play
In 1992 in the “Artists Way” Julia Cameron said “What we really want to do is what we are really meant to do. When we do what we are meant to do, money comes to us, doors open for us, we feel useful, and the work we do feels like play to us”. This is such a truism.
She goes on to say “All too often too often we try to push, pull, outline and control our ideas instead of letting them grow organically. The creative process is a process of surrender, not control.” Wise words. We are truly fortunate if we feel that our work is more like play. When the weekends get in the way of the working week because we love what we do and are completely connected to it. So many of us spend so much of our time trying to find our own voice and to find something we can completely emerse ourselves in and where creativity flows naturally.
Choosing to have a positive attitude... as so many philosphers and positive psychology experts and researchers confirm.. is key to this approach.
